Harriet Lois (Shaffer) Martin, 88, of Parkville, formerly of Marshall, died Friday, March 9, 2007, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2007, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Marshall. Rev. Mark Hass will officiate. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. Born July 23, 1918, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late William J. Shaffer and Harriet Keck Shaffer. She was a 1936 graduate of Roosevelt High School in St. Louis, where she was a member of the National Honor Society. On Nov. 25, 1944, she married James H. Martin, who preceded her in death on July 17, 1966. She had lived in Marshall from September of 1955 until June of 2003, when she moved to Parkville to be near her family. She worked for 29 years as a secretary and administrative assistant in the Saline County Courthouse for the prosecutor and juvenile offices. She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and was very active in the community. She was a member of Marshall's Forum Club, the American Business Women's Association, voted Business Woman of the Year in 1979, and member of the Monday Club.

Survivors include two sons, Terry J. Martin and wife, Michelle, of Parkville, and Jerry J. Martin and wife, Patricia, of Mesa, Ariz.; two grandsons, M. Casey Martin and Royce Martin; one granddaughter, Brittany Martin; two nephews, Kurt Stoeppleman and Mark Shaffer; one niece, Susan Ferry; and several great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and beloved husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Clem Shaffer and Wilbert Shaffer, and one sister, Edna Mae Stoeppleman.
