Gayle Charles, 51, of Marshall, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2007, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2007, at First Baptist Church in Marshall. Rev. Wayne Doolin, Rev. John Holt and Rev. Vernon Maxted will officiate. Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Born Dec. 17, 1955, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of Rev. Vernon Maxted and Clareca Davis Maxted, who survive of Marshall. On June 29, 1974, she married Larry Charles, who survives of the home. She had lived in Marshall since 1972 and was a member of First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and was the church pianist. For the last eight years, she had also served as secretary for the Carroll-Saline Baptist Association.
Additional survivors include three daughters, Jenny Skinner and husband, Willie, of Springfield, Kindra Wade and husband, Brennan, of rural Marshall, and Amy Charles of the home; three grandchildren, Lily Wade, Molly Wade and Tucker Skinner; one sister, Kay Davis and husband, Rev. Terry Davis, of Butler; along with several nieces and nephews.
