David Gene Hamblen Jr., 30, of Mt. Leonard, formerly of Slater, died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007, from injuries received in a grain elevator accident at Carrollton.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007, at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, with Reverend Roger Mabrey officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, DeWitt. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007, at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton. The family suggests contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the family's choice in his memory. They may be left at or mailed to Gibson Funeral Home, 201 S. Main, Carrollton MO 64633.
He was born May 25, 1976, in Marshall, the son of David G. Sr. and Brenda Gibson Hamblen. He graduated from Slater High School. David had served in the National Guard. He was employed with Ray-Carroll County Grain Growers, Inc. in Carrollton.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two children, Sylvia Marie Hamblen and DeKota Wyatt Hamblen of Slater; one brother, Daniel Hamblen of Slater; one half-brother, Brian Munsch of Hayes, Kan.; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews; and a paternal grandmother.
His paternal grandfather, maternal grandfather, maternal grandmother and one uncle preceded him in death.
