Rose E. Black, 79, of White Hall, Ill., died Monday, Feb. 12, 2007, at home.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 16, 2007, at Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in White Hall, with burial at Pine Tree Cemetery near Patterson, Ill. She was born Oct. 19, 1927, in St. Louis, the daughter of James L. and Annie Smith Mesplay. She loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren. She also loved to crochet, read and do embroidery.
She is survived by five daughters, Sue Brownfield of Jacksonville, Ill., Janette Shikles and her husband, Monte, of California, Rose Speaker and her husband, Bill, of White Hall, Patricia Black of Marshall and Nancy Black of Marshall; four sons, Charlie Black and his wife, Susan, of Jacksonville, Carl Black and his wife, Shelly, of California, Robert Black of Marshall and David Black and his fiancée, Nikki, of Marshall; 24 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Guy Black; six brothers; and five sisters.
