Charlotte T. (Cromley) Gibson, 83, of Marshall, died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2007, at The Living Center in Marshall.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. with visitation from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21, 2007, at the Sweeney Reser Wills Funeral Home in Marshall. The Rev. Mike Brown will officiate. Organist Martha Sue Jasper will play "Just A Closer Walk With Thee" and "Have Thy Own Way Lord." Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials have been established to The First Christian Church or Meals on Wheels in care of the Sweeney Reser Wills Funeral Home.
She was born Sept. 8, 1923, in St. Matthews, Ky., the daughter of the late Louis D. Thomas and Elsie M. Burger Thomas. On Feb. 27, 1946, in St. Matthews, she married William Holmes Cromley, who preceded her in death on June 18, 1962. She then married William F. Gibson on Feb. 17, 1968, in Marshall. He preceded her in death on Oct. 25, 1985. She was a resident of Marshall for 60 years of her life and had been employed at the Marshall Habilitation Center for 30 years before her retirement. Following retirement, she delivered Meals on Wheels through the First Christian Church, Assisted on the OATS Bus and was a volunteer with the Knights of Columbus and the Malta Bend American Legion Post. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Marshall.
Survivors include one son, Gerald W. Cromley of Columbia; one brother, John L. Thomas of Louisville, Ky; four step-grandchildren, Jennifer North, Jean Arbogast, Bernard Hopkins and Kathy Hopkins; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by one son, Thomas L. Cromley, and one sister, Margaret Thomas Westerman.
