Marion A. Ryan, 84, of rural Slater, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2007, at his home.
Funeral services will be Friday Jan. 19, at 11 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Slater. Father Michael Penn will officiate. Bethany Weiker organist will play "On Eagles Wings," "Amazing Grace," "Ave Maria" and "Largo." Burial will be in the Slater City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Willis, Bobby Cobb, Charles Harris, Sammy Giger, Edward Grimes and Harry Whitlock. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of service on Friday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Slater Memorial Veterans Park in care of Weiker Funeral Home in Slater.
Born Sept. 29, 1922, in Slater, he was the son of the late Phillip A. and Carrie Alice Jones Ryan.
He is survived by two brothers, Donald Ryan of Odessa and John David Ryan of Phoenix, Ariz.; a sister, Julia Mae Klassen of Kansas City; and several nieces and nephews.
Ryan was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Slater. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II retiring in 1982 with the rank of captain. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 78 in Slater and farmed in rural Slater most of his life.
