Raymond Wayne Ballenger, 69, of rural Malta Bend, died Friday, Jan. 12, 2007, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2007, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall. Rev. Cliff Cato will officiate. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Dowell, Clyde "Tooter" Riley Jr., Bobby Evans, Jeremy Deal, Brad Riley and Ricky Rafferty. Honorary pallbearers will be Dudley Hall, Bo Ballenger, Mitchell Jenkins, Jeffery Ballenger, Ricky Ballenger and Randy Ballenger. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Born Oct. 19, 1937, in rural Saline County, he was the son of the late Ora Ballenger and Mattie Gertrude Saylor Ballenger. On June 11, 1966, he married Martha Rafferty, who preceded him in death on Jan. 6, 2006. He had lived in Saline County his entire life and was a heavy equipment operator for many years. He had served in the U.S. Army in Hawaii.
Survivors include two sons, Marty Ballenger of rural Mt. Leonard and Jonathan William Ballenger of rural Marshall; one daughter, Amanda R. Dowell of Kingsville; five grandchildren; six brothers, Ora C. Ballenger of rural Cole Camp, Howard Ballenger of Miami, Melvin Ballenger of Marshall, Vernon Ballenger of Nevada, Larry Ballenger of Slater and Kenneth Ballenger of Marshall; two sisters, Erma Evans of rural Mt. Leonard and Marilyn Jenkins of Marshall; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
