Elaine MacLean Gordon, 96, of Marshall, died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2007, at Sunrise Assisted Living in Riverside, Calif.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 13, 2007, at Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Rev. Mike Brown officiated. Visitation was held Saturday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Born Nov. 25, 1910, in Medford, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Hector John MacLean and Florence Mary Kirkland MacLean. She was a graduate of the Girl's Latin High School in Boston and received a bachelor's degree from Radcliffe College in Cambridge. On June 21, 1930, in Arlington, Mass., she married William Catron Gordon, Jr., who preceded her in death on Oct. 29, 1986. She had lived in Marshall since 1962 and was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Marshall Bridge Club and Friends of Arrow Rock. She and her husband were members of and involved in the formation of the Marshall Philharmonic Orchestra.
Survivors include one son, Richard Stuart Gordon of Riverside, Calif.; one daughter, Jean Tompkins of Redwood City, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one nephew, Gordon Buckner of Marshall.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one half-brother, James Ross MacLean.
