Dorothy G. Johnson, 83, of Marshall, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2007, at home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall. William W. Harlow will officiate. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. Pallbearers will be Roger Johnson, Russell Johnson, Kenneth Johnson, Tim Johnson, Glenn Evans, Ronald Dove, Leonard Kraus and Larry Johnson. Memorials may be made to the Foster Grandparents Program. Born Dec. 26, 1923, in Marshall, she was the daughter of the late Elmer Murphy and Susan Elizabeth French Murphy. On Jan. 11, 1941, she married Eugene W. Johnson, who preceded her in death on July 26, 1980. She had lived in Marshall most of her life and was a Baptist. She and her husband owned and operated Johnson Nursing Home, then later worked at ConAgra. She was active in the Foster Grandparents Program for many years.
Survivors include three daughters, Beverly Dove of Green Ridge, Donna Kraus and husband, Hillary, of Pilot Grove, and Judy Evans and husband, Earl, of Marshall; four sons, Dale Johnson and wife, Mary, of Houstonia, Larry Johnson and wife, Adrienne, of Clinton, Gary Johnson and wife, Wilma, of Sedalia, and Roger Johnson of Marshall; one daughter-in-law, Sally Johnson of Houstonia; 43 grandchildren; 73 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Elmer (Junior) Murphy of Marshall; one sister, Jewell Bales of Alliance, Ohio; several brothers and sisters-in-law; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Everette Johnson; one son-in-law, Arthur Dove; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Martha Arnold.
