Doris Adelia (Aulgur) Pollard, 90, passed from this life on Sunday, Dec. 10, 2006, in Boone Hospital, Columbia. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, being preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and three sisters. Following her wishes, her remains will be cremated and burial of the ashes will be in the family plot in Ridge Park Cemetery, Marshall, at a later date.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, 2006, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Marshall Senior Center or the charity of donor's choice. All correspondence to the family should be sent in care of Kristin Kunze, 105 W. She was born on Valentine's Day, Feb. 14, 1916, in Saline County, the seventh child in a family of eight born to Berry Cornelius and Lela Hudson Aulgur. She graduated from Marshall High School in 1933, as a member of the National Honor Society. In 1934, she was married to Dr. Richard Nuckles. She married Edward Pollard in 1972; he preceded her in death in 1979. She was a member of the World Organization of China Painters, the local YMCA, and a volunteer in the Marshall Senior Center.
She is survived by one son, Robert Nuckles of Webb City; two daughters, Kristin Kunze of Columbia and Susan Lopez and husband, Lance, of Reno, Nev.; special companion Russell Nicholas; grandchildren Kevin Nuckles, Kathi Pattison, Sheryl Youngblood, Karel Vogelsmeier and Daniel Nuckles; great-grandchildren Paige, Sheena, Kyle, Angela, Jessica, Lindsay, Shannon, Taylor, Breanna and Josiah; eight great-great-grandchildren; and special feline friend, Tippy.
