Ruth C. Schroeder, 87, of Waverly, formerly of Mt. Leonard, died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2006, at The Living Center in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 4, 2006, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waverly. Rev. Timothy Miille and Rev. Brett Mueller will officiate. Visitation will be held from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall. Burial will be in Val Halla Cemetery in Waverly. Pallbearers will be Rick Schmidt, Mark Schmidt, Randy Schroeder, Jeff Schroeder, Justin Schroeder, Kelly Schroeder and Brian Schroeder. Memorials may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church or Fitzgibbon-Mary Montgomery Hospice.
Born April 15, 1919, in Corder, she was the daughter of the late Walter B. Russell and Meta Brewe Russell. On April 2, 1938, in Carrollton, she married Melvin C. "Wimpy" Schroeder, who preceded her in death on April 29, 2005. She had lived in the Mt. Leonard community most of her life, living in Waverly since April of 2002. She was retired from Banquet Foods in Marshall. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Mt. Leonard, the Ladies Aid and Blackburn American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include one daughter, Lora Lee Schmidt and husband, Wendell, of Waverly; four sons, Ben Schroeder and wife, Debbie, of Springfield, Roger Schroeder and wife, Judy, of rural Marshall, Gene Schroeder and wife, Cindy, of rural Marshall and Doug Schroeder and wife, Sharon, of Springfield; 12 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one step-great-great-granddaughter; one brother, Bill Allen Russell of Evans Mills, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
