Lennie Bakert, 99, of Marshall, died Saturday, Nov. 18, 2006, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2006, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall. William W. Harlow will officiate. Pallbearers will be Chris Hanes, Franklin Bakert, Byron Sandidge, Doug Sandidge, Stan Elliott and Tooter Pannell. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials may be made to The Living Center.
Born May 26, 1907, in Miller County, she was the daughter of the late Clyde Palmer and Bertha Williams Palmer. On Feb. 25, 1925, she married James Franklin "Bugger" Bakert, who preceded her in death on Sept. 22, 1989. She had lived in Saline County most of her life and had worked in retail sales for many years.
Survivors include one son, Ernest E. "Bingo" Bakert and wife, Leatrice, of Marshall; three daughters, Wilma Hanes of Marshall, Barbara Bafford of Terre Haute, Ind., and Betty Boyd and husband, Frank, of Marshall; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and great-great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two granddaughters, one grandson, one brother and three sisters.
