Saline County deputies investigated the bullet hole at a home under construction belonging to Tracy and Joshua Cochran on Saturday, Nov. 11. Officers observed a bullet hole in the west side of the house. Inside the house the officers observed a hole in the sheet rock as well as a broken glass panel and a dent in the sheet rock on the opposite wall.
A "full metal jacket" bullet was found lying near the west wall of the home, police said. The bullet is designed not to explode.
An agent from the Missouri Department of Conservation was advised of the incident and helped investigate. Agent Tom Davidson said that the bullet was a .308 caliber bullet with a full metal jacket. It is illegal to hunt with ammunition that has a full metal jacket, police said.
The incident is still under investigation.
In another case, sheriff's deputies arrested Eric M. Gilmore, 23, of the 600 block of W. Clay in Marshall, on a felony warrant of arson in the second degree, police said. Deputies arrested Gilmore at his home on Saturday.
Gilmore is charged with starting a fire in an apartment unit of the Santa Fe Trail Apartments at the 1200 block of S. Miami in Marshall. Gilmore is currently being held at the Saline County Jail on $7,500 cash or surety bond.
In a third incident, deputies arrested Michael G. Moser, 44, of Brunswick, for drug possession.
Moser was arrested near Malta Bend on Saturday, after being stopped for failure to stop at a stop sign. Upon investigation, officers found that Moser was in possession of marijuana.
Moser was processed at the Saline County Justice Center and released pending charges from the Saline County prosecutor.
