Kenneth L. Retherford, 67, of rural Houstonia, died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2006, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, 2006, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Sweet Springs. Rev. Paul Wobus will officiate. Family visitation will be held after 4 p.m. Friday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home, with visitation from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Sweet Springs. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.
Born October 18, 1939, in McCallister Springs, he was the son of the late Woodrow M. Retherford and Lorine Retherford Crain, who survives of Sweet Springs. On June 13, 1959, he married Carol J. Narron who survives of the home. He had lived in the Sweet Springs area his entire life and was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Emma. He retired from Fischer Quarries in Sedalia, and also worked as a custodian at Sweet Springs High School.
Additional survivors include one son, Douglas L. Retherford of Sedalia; two grandchildren; one sister, Wilma Ash of Raymore; one brother, Ralph Retherford of Marshall; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one sister, Grace Retherford, and his stepfather, Charles Crain.
