William Robert "Bill" Gerhard, 79, died Oct. 20, 2006, at St. Mary's Hospital and Medical Center, Grand Junction, Colo.
Memorial services will be held on Monday, Nov. 6, 2006, at 11 a.m. at the Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home Chapel in Marshall, with Rev. David Huck of First United Methodist Church officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the charity of choice.
He was born in Miami, on Oct. 20, 1927, to Edward Gerhard and Kathleen (Gadberry) Gerhard. He served in the Navy in the Asiatic-Pacific-Phillipines Theater, receiving his honorable discharge in 1946. After his discharge, he graduated from Missouri Valley College in Marshall with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration. He married Carolyn Raines on May 1, 1954. Bill was employed in various aspects of construction and retired from the Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation as plant manager in Grand Junction, Colo.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, William E. Gerhard of Kansas City; Jacquelyn Gerhard Pipe and husband David of Grand Junction, Colo.; Laura Gerhard of Denver, Colo.; and R. Matthew Gerhard and wife Patricia of Moberly; a brother, Ralph Gerhard; sisters, Edwina Gerhard and Marjorie Coleman; four grandchildren, Jacob and Nathaniel Gerhard of Moberly, and Natalie and Carmen Pipe of Grand Junction, Colo.; and a niece, Kathy Coleman.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother.
