Emma Norene McKinney, 92, of Waverly, died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2006, at the Lafayette Regional Health Center, Lexington.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Oct. 30, 2006, at the Waverly Baptist Church, Waverly, with the Rev. Mike Walker officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 1 p.m. to 1:50 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Valhalla Cemetery, Waverly. The family suggests contributions to the Waverly Baptist Church Building Fund, or to the charity of choice. She was born Nov. 16, 1913, in Charity (Dallas County), the daughter of Abrum Stanley and Sarah Elizabeth Skaggs Rea. She moved to Waverly with her family in February 1928 where she has resided since that time. She was married to Clarence W. McKinney on Dec. 7, 1935, in Jefferson City. He preceded her in death on April 12, 1966.
She was a member of the Federated Republican Women's Club and served as a Republican committeewoman several years for Middleton Township. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Order of the Eastern Star in Missouri City. She managed the Blue Lantern Restaurant for several years.
She is survived by three children, Norma Gale Wing of Waverly, Larry Rea McKinney of Independence and Enoch Stanley McKinney of Skokie, Ill.; two sisters, Edna Russell of Waverly and Adalee Moran of Waverly; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Enoch Rea, Edward Rea, and Harvey T. Rea; one sister, Pauline Gott; two nieces; and one nephew.
