Harry R. Davis, 85, of Slater, died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006, at Carroll County Memorial Hospital in Carrollton.
Graveside services with military honors will be Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2006, at 2 p.m. at the Slater City Cemetery. Jeff Harris will officiate. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Weiker Funeral Home in Slater. Memorials are suggested to the Wolfner Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped in Jefferson City.
Born July 12, 1921, in Dodge City, Kans., he was the son of the late Edward E. and Amy Salzburg Davis. He married Violet Bloyd on Dec. 9, 1944, in Kansas City, Kan.; she survives of the home. Davis was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the D.A.V. He was a retired auto and motorcycle mechanic, and had lived in Slater since moving from Seattle, Wash., in 1981.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Richard Leroy Davis of Woodcross, Utah, Ronald Dean Davis of Marshall, and Roscoe Harry Davis of Slater; five daughters, Norma Bernadette Bruenn of Toledo, Wash., M. Christine Nichols of Rocheport, Marilyn Bernice Davis of Everett, Wash., Judy Ann Tucker of Ottawa, Kan., and Rebecca I. Minner of Columbia; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Virginia Grace Moth-Overson, and a brother.
