Lester S. Ordway, 89, of Winchester, Kan., died Sunday, Oct. 15, 2006, at Jefferson County Hospital and Geriatric Center.
Graveside services and burial will be at noon on Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2006, at Ridge Park Cemetery, Marshall. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Skradski Funeral Home, 340 N. 6th St., Kansas City, Kan., where the rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Jefferson County Hospital and Geriatric Center, Winchester, Kan.
He was born in Sweet Springs on Aug. 10, 1917. He had lived in California from 1938 to 1974 where he owned and operated a metal plating business, until he retired and moved to Sedalia where he lived for 25 years before returning to the Kansas City area. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Sedalia, a life member of the Knights of Columbus, and a U.S.. Army and U.S. Air Force veteran.
He is survived by two daughters, Judy J. King of Linwood, Kan., and Patricia J. Abramovitz of Valley Falls, Kan.; a brother, Fred J. Ordway of Los Angeles, Calif.; two sisters, Mary King of Glendale, Calif., and Helen Ordway of Los Angeles, Calif.; seven grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise, in November 2005; two brothers, Frank Ordway and Pete Ordway; and two sisters, Lillian and Ruth.
