A rural Malta Bend man was arrested by Marshall police Monday afternoon, Oct. 9, after an altercation in which a Marshall man apparently was stabbed in the chest with a pair of scissors.
Police responded to a call at about 5:50 p.m. Monday in the 400 block of East High Street and found Robert D. Oltmer Jr., 35, who had an apparent stab wound to his upper right chest near his shoulder.
Kenneth Endicott, 34, of Malta Bend, later turned himself in to police and was charged with first degree assault and armed criminal action.
Witnesses told police that the two men were involved in an altercation and at some point Oltmer suffered the wound, according to the police report.
Oltmer was transported by Saline County Ambulance with moderate injuries and later was taken to University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, according to police.
Endicott posted a $25,000 bond and was released Tuesday, Oct. 10. He is scheduled for arraignment in Saline County Circuit Court, Division Six, on Wednesday, Oct. 18.
