Tourism commission

to meet on Oct. 11

The Marshall Tourism Commission will meet at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 11 at the City Office Building Conference Room, 214 N. Lafayette.

The tentative agenda includes the circulation of submitted grant applications, a brief review of applications received, set two interview dates for applicants and an overview of potential funds to distribute.

The tourism commission oversees the distribution of room tax money collected by local hotels in the form of grants to projects that are designed to attract overnight visitors to Marshall.

Storytelling at Arrow Rock Historic Site

on Oct. 28

Professional story teller Sue Hinkel will tell stories of historical people and places including Ozark legends and lore and Missouri ghost stories during an event beginning at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 28, in the visitor center of Arrow Rock State Historic Site.

Children are encouraged to wear costumes if they wish, organizers said. For more information, call (660) 837-3330.
