George Warren Hains, 94, of rural Slater, died Monday, Oct. 9, 2006, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Gravesides services with military honors will be Thursday, Oct. 12, 2006, at 11 a.m. at the Slater City Cemetery. Rev. Robert Sisney will officiate. Pallbearers will be Larry Avery, Mark Fizer, John Markovich, Sam Peeples, Bill Meyer and Charlie Guthrie. Visitation will be from 10 until 11 a.m. Thursday at the Weiker Funeral Home in Slater. Memorials are suggested to American Legion Post No. 78 in Slater.
Born Aug. 26, 1912, in Slater, he was the son of the late George W. and Ernie Jeter Hains. He was married to Doris G. Murphy; she preceded him in death on Nov. 23, 2002. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Slater. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and a member of American Legion Post No. 78 and V.F.W. Post No. 4367, both in Slater. He was a graduate of Slater High School, and was a retired farmer.
He is survived by two sisters, Norene Martin of Slater and Bess Jones of Slater; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Wilbur Hains; and a sister, Lucille Reidenbach.
