Even with junior Ashley Johnson stopping three out of four shots, the Lady Vikings couldn't break through during a 1-0 loss at MNU.

OLATHE, Kan. -- The Missouri Valley College men's soccer team has been unable to gain traction in Heart of America Conference play, alternating wins and losses through four matches.

Tuesday's contest at MidAmerica Nazarene was a loss, 3-0, as the Vikings managed only three shots on goal -- each turned away by senior Danny Buxie.

The Pioneers (6-5-2, 2-1 HAAC) nearly had that many in the first nine minutes, scoring twice: by sophomore Jon Lemmon 1:30 into the contest and senior Luis Lucerio at the 8:51 mark. Junior Zac Breedlove, who assisted the second goal, converted a feed from Lemmon with 2:38 remaining in the match.

Two of the best chances for Valley (7-4, 2-2) came from junior Josť "Chele" Aguilar and sophomore Leonardo Silva, Jr.

The Lady Vikings were handed their fourth straight league loss by MidAmerica Nazarene (6-6, 2-1), 1-0, the lone goal coming with 4:39 left by sophomore Lauren Long off a crossing pass from junior Julie Beck.

Valley out-shot the Lady Pioneers, 16-4 --five MVC attempts by senior Sarah Wallingsford -- but freshman Kim Nigh was perfect in the net with eight saves. Junior Ashley Johnson had three stops for the Lady Vikings (3-6-1, 0-4).

The Valley teams will be on the road Friday for non-conference tilts at McKendree (Ill.).
