Eleanor M. Tweito, 96, of Hutchinson, Kan., formerly of Marshall, died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2006, at Dillon Care Center in Hutchinson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 6, 2006, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Marshall. Rev. Douglas A. Dubisar will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials may be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church c/o Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall.
Born Dec. 25, 1909, in Westgate, Iowa, she was the daughter of the late Henry Christopher Frese and Amanda Fink Frese. On Aug. 26, 1936, she married Dr. Thomas E. Tweito who preceded her in death Nov. 21, 1998. She had lived in Marshall since 1959 moving from Sioux City, Iowa. She received a bachelor of arts degree from Morningside College in Sioux City and a master's degree in education from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Upon moving to Marshall in 1959, she taught fifth grade at Eastwood Grade School for two years. She then became assistant professor at Missouri Valley College where she was instrumental in founding the business education department before retiring in 1974. Following retirement, she served as secretary for 10 years at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, of which she was a member, and then as administrator of the Marshall Senior Center until 1990. She was past president of the local AARP, held a 50-year honorary membership in the American Association of University Women and also held memberships in Pi Mu Gamma, Zeta Sigma and Pi Lambda Theta.
Survivors include son David H. Tweito, M.D. of Hutchinson, Kan.; son Thomas E. Tweito, D.D.S., Hutchinson, Kan.; seven grandchildren; two step-grandsons; one great-grandchild; one step-great-granddaughter; sister Darlyce Sandrock of San Francisco, Calif.; sister Janice Brown of Bloomington, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Erle Frese and Dale E.H. Frese.
