KIRKSVILLE -- Junior Marco Matovina scored three second-half goals to turn a 2-0 halftime contest into a 5-0 NCMC rout for Kirksville over the visiting Marshall boys' soccer team Saturday.

The match was scoreless until the 25th minute, when Matovina set up junior Weston Newell for a chip shot over the head of Owls junior goalkeeper Michael Sartor. The Tigers scored on a penalty kick by senior Chris Eitel with five minutes remaining in the half.

All three of Matovina's goals were assisted by Newell. Senior Martin DiStefano made three saves to record the shutout for Kirksville (7-3-1, 3-1-1 NCMC), which has beaten the Owls in three Saturday meetings this season -- the first two in overtime.

Sophomore Chris McCoy took four of Marshall's five shots. The Owls (4-9, 1-6) host Hickman Tuesday.
