Robert O. "Bob" Akers, 74, of Marshall, died Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2006, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Cremation. Memorial graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, 2006, at Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. William W. Harlow will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m.. Saturday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Memorials may be made to family choice.
Born Aug. 1, 1932, in Osceola, he was the son of the late Francis Akers and Stella Greenfield Akers Smith. He had lived in Marshall since 1983, moving from Kansas City. He worked for Sam's 66 on Independence Avenue in Kansas City for many years, and was a cab driver for Barnes Taxi while living in Marshall. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his children: Robbin Ann Mullins of Greenridge; Tina Arlene Brown of Sedalia; Patti Alice Davis of Osage Beach; David Allen Akers of Clinton; Larry Austin Akers of Liberty; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one sister, Violet Faye Wisdom of Wellington; one brother, Kenneth Akers of Independence; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, George Akers, and two sisters, Dorothy Suevon Obanion, and Ruby May Witherspoon.
