Mary Charlene Broadway, 74, of Marshall, died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2006, at Mar-Saline Manor Care Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 21, 2006, at the North Street United Methodist Church in Marshall with Reverend Gene Page officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Slater. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m., Thursday, at the H. T. May and Son Funeral Home in Marshall, and from noon Thursday until service time at the church.
She was born Aug. 11, 1932, in Slater, the daughter of Elmer and Opal Joseph Van Buren. She was a graduate of the Missouri School of Barbering and Hairstyling in Kansas City. She retired from the Marshall public school system.
Survivors include her husband, Donnell Broadway, of Marshall; one daughter, Flame Cotton of Fayetteville, N.C., two brothers, Elmer Van Buren, Jr., of Marshall, and William Joseph of Atlanta, Ga., two sisters, Betty Van Buren of Kansas City, Kan., and Emma Brame of Sedalia; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one son.
