August Edward Eilers, 85, of Sun City, Calif., died Friday, Sept. 1, 2006. Evans-Brown Mortuary is handling the private inurnment at the National Cemetery in Riverside, Calif.
Born Jan. 4, 1921, in Arrow Rock, he was the son of the late Hugo and Emma Eilers. He lived in Sun City for 24 years. He retired from Norris Industries in July of 1984. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1946. He was a member of the Hemet Roadrunners Square Dance Club and had been a square dancer for over 35 years. He was the loving husband of Evelyn R. Eilers.
Survivors include his wife; two sisters, Catherine Eilers of Marshall, and Ann Dennis of Sedalia; one brother, Elmer Eilers of Nelson; one son, Ronald Eilers of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry Wornkey of Lauderhill, Fla., Deborah and Steve McCart of Clovis N.M., Diana and Larry McCord of Hawthorne, Fla., and Roger Barker, Arvada, Colo.; 10 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one daughter, Gloria Baker; former wife Alberta and four brothers, George, Benjamin, Charles and Marion.
