Loid A. Vinyard, age 89, of Marshall, died Tuesday Sept. 12, 2006, at The Living Center in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15, 2006, at the Sweeney Reser Wills Funeral Home in Marshall. The Rev. Wayne Doolin will officiate. Burial will be in the Ridge Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the Sweeney Reser Wills Funeral Home in Marshall. A memorial has been established to the First Baptist Church in Marshall in care of the Sweeney Reser Wills Funeral Home.
She was born July 9, 1917, in Saline County, the daughter of the late Clarence Smeeton and Polly Thomson Smeeton. She married George C. Vinyard on May 2, 1941, in Marshall, and he preceded her in death on July 15, 1979. She was a resident of Marshall for most all of her life and had been a beautician for over 60 years. She operated Loid's Beauty Shop for 50 years in Marshall. She was a member of the First Baptist Church for 62 years.
Survivors include two sons, Ronald G. Vinyard of Edwardsville, Ill. and James R. Vinyard of Columbia; one daughter, Sandra Griffin of Lee's Summit; one brother Cleo Smeaton of Danville, Ind.; twin sister Lois Johnson of Marshall; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister.
