Jerry Ray Drechsel, 46, of Boonville died of cancer at his home on Friday Sept. 8, 2006.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2006, at the Davis Funeral Chapel. Officiating will be Chaplain Bill Smart and Pastor Mary Harris-Koth. Visitation will be on Tuesday evening from 4 to 8 p.m. at Davis Chapel. Friends may call from noon until 4 p.m. on Tuesday. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers are Roger Kueckelhan, Herschell Roth, Richard Roof, Keith Hodges, Alan Nutter and Eddie Miles. Honorary bearers are Mark Curtis, Curtis Roth, Paul Lang, Kevin Roth and Shane Jennings. Drechsel was born in Boonville on Oct. 31, 1959, the son of Ernest Drechsel Jr. and Wilma Maxine "Roach" Drechsel. He married Barbara Root on July 20, 1984, in Boonville. They are the parents of three children, Jeremy, Tanner and Audrianna.
He was a member of the Evangelical United Church of Christ. He farmed all his life and was active in the American Angus Association and the Missouri Cattleman's Association. He had worked for 19 years at Interstate Brands Bakery in Boonville until his retirement due to health reasons. He was a member of the Bakery and Confectionery Union No. 235. He was also a member of the Continental Dorset Club.
His mother, Maxine Drechsel of Boonville, survives him. He is also survived by his wife, Barbara, of the home; his children Jeremy, Tanner and Audrianna; his sisters, Marilyn Roth of Arrow Rock, and Nancy Keuckalhan of Blackwater; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1980 and his brother, Terry Drechsel, who died at birth.
