Juanita R. Sappington, 76, of Carrollton, died Thursday, Sept. 7, 2006, at Life Care Center.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, Sept. 11, 2006, at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, with Reverend Bert Hughes officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Carrollton.
Visitation was held from 12:30-1:15 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11, at Gibson Funeral Home in Carrollton.
The family suggests contributions be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Sappington. They may be left at or mailed to Gibson Funeral Home, 201 S. Main, Carrollton Mo. 64633.
She was born June 18, 1930, in Center, the daughter of Oliver Gene and Zelma Earl Hendricks Murphy. She attended and graduated from Center Missouri School.
On Feb. 26, 1978, she married Paul E. Sappington in Carrollton. He preceded her in death on June 12, 1997. She had worked at the State School in Marshall for 15 years and also as a CNA at Resthaven in Carrollton. She was a member of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by two daughters, Kathy Gunn of Mendon and Janie Humphrey of Marshall; three sons, Jesse Humphery, Rick Humphery and Wayne Humphrey all of Carrollton; 17 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
Her parents, husband Paul, one daughter, Ruthie Bell; daughter-in-law Carol Humphery; brother and sister-in-law, Earl and Betty Murphy; and an infant grandson preceded her in death.
