Activity picks up at the Marshall library

Wednesday, September 6, 2006
Labor Day is behind us and things are picking up here at the library. Story Times have begun again, after a hiatus in August. Our regular story times take place on Monday evenings at 7 p.m. and Tuesday mornings at 10 a.m. Wee Ones, for infants and toddlers, is held on Wednesdays at 10 a.m.

In addition, our teen events are starting up again, too. The Teen Advisory Board meeting is scheduled for September 18 at 7 p.m. The mission of this group is to promote Marshall Public Library's services to teens by:

-- planning and implementing teen programs,

-- creating an inviting atmosphere at the library by maintaining a safe, attractive teen area,

-- promoting ideas in the young adult collection and

-- promoting and encouraging reading by teens.

The group is open to any teens who are interested. Refreshments will be served.

The book clubs have chosen their titles for September. The Classic Book Club will be reading "Winesburg, Ohio" by Sherwood Anderson and will meet on September 26 at 2 p.m.

The Up For Discussion! Book Club is reading "One Last Dance" by Mardo Williams and will meet on September 27 at 6:30 p.m.

The books are available at the library.

New books

Fiction:

"The Expected One" -- Kathleen McGowan

Non-fiction:

How can I support the Marshall Public Library?

Bring your receipts from Patricia's into the library when you're returning or checking out books. Each month, Patricia's Foods will donate a portion of the collected receipts to the library.

When purchasing items from Amazon.com, use the link to Amazon that appears on the Marshall Public Library's website: www.marshallpubliclibrary.com. A portion of your purchase will go to support the library.

Consider joining Friends of the Marshall Libraries. Membership forms are available at the library.

Honor a mentor. Celebrate a friend. Commemorate an event. A gift to the Marshall Public Library is a unique and enduring way to pay tribute to friends and family. Your generosity will be a lasting source of joy and enrichment for the community.
