Edward Simonsen, 89, of Marshall, died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2006, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 3, 2006, at the Covenant Presbyterian Church with funeral services to follow at 2 p.m. The Rev. Jim Long will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in Woodbridge, N.J. Memorials may be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church or First Presbyterian Church in Woodbridge, N.J.
Born on Jan. 4, 1917, in Sewaren, N.J., he was the son of the late Edward Simonsen and the late Marion McDonald Simonsen. On April 17, 1948, he married Dorothy "Dot" Hanie, who survives of the home. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of WW II and a member of the U.S. Marine Corps Association. He had lived in Marshall for the last three and a half years, coming from Sparta N.C. He had also lived in Colonia, N.J., for 40 years. He was retired from the Shell Oil Co. and was a member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Marshall.
He is survived by two daughters, Sandra Simonsen and husband Michael Zimmerman of Brookline, Mass., and Chris Tuck and husband Steve of Marshall; two grandchildren, Jason and Whitney Tuck; two nephews and a niece.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert Simonsen.
