Freda N. Petering, 91, of Littleton, Colo., formerly of Kansas City, Sweet Springs and Concordia, died Thursday, Aug. 24, 2006, at Alterra Care Center in Highlands Ranch, Colo.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2006, at Fairview Cemetery in Sweet Springs. William W. Harlow will officiate. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice c/o Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Sweet Springs.
Born Aug. 24, 1915, in Concordia, she was the daughter of the late Henry Clay Treece and Hattie Margarette Gemmill Treece. Freda attended Sweet Springs High School. On Oct. 10, 1936, she married Allen W. Petering, who preceded her in death on June 11, 1991. She had lived in Colorado since 1995, moving from Kansas City, previously living in Sweet Springs, Concordia and Windsor. She was a member of Little Village Women's Club and Northgate Baptist Church in Kansas City.
Survivors include one daughter, Janice Kay Fyke of Littleton, Colo.; one niece; and one great-niece.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Laura Florine Terrell and three brothers, Edward Clay Treece, Gerald Franklin Treece and Augustus Clyde Treece.
