Arnold E. "Squire" Bargfrede, 79, of Concordia, formerly of rural Alma, died Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2006, at home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, 2006, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Alma. Pastor Fred Hertwig will officiate. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Concordia. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or Hospice.
Born Dec. 11, 1926, in Alma, he was the son of the late Herman J. Bargfrede and Elizabeth Kiehl Bargfrede. He had lived in rural Alma most of his life living in Concordia the last five years. He was a farmer, road and bridge construction worker and owner/operator of the Bridge Inn Restaurant in Waverly. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Alma. He had served in the U.S. Army and was a member of Blackburn V.F.W. Post.
Survivors include two brothers, Otto Bargfrede of St. Louis and Emil Bargfrede of Creve Coeur; three sisters, Lucile McGinnis of Chesterfield, Laura Bargfrede of Concordia and Ella Kammeyer of Tulsa, Okla.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ludwig Bargfrede and Bernhard Bargfrede, and two sisters, Olinda Bargfrede and Amanda Bargfrede.
