Eleanor A. Bensberg was born on the 1st of March 1911, in Mexico, the only child of Elwin and Hattie Cass and went to be with her Lord on August 10, 2006 in Garden Grove, Calif. She died of natural causes at age 95.
After receiving an Associate Degree from Hardin College, she worked for the A.P. Green Refractory Plant in Mexico, as an executive secretary throughout the depression and World War II until she married her husband of over 55 years, William "Bill" Bensberg in 1945. Bill was pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Marshall for many years and Eleanor sang in the choir and was active in the DAR and other community organizations. Bill retired after 40 years in the ministry in 1975 and he and Eleanor moved to Camden, Ark., where they lived for over 25 years and were active in church and community work. After a stroke incapacitated Bill in early 2001, they moved to Garden Grove, Calif. to be near their son.
Bill preceded Eleanor in death in Dec. 2001. Eleanor is survived by her two children, daughter Priscilla McElhose and her husband Bob of Millcreek, Wash., and son Cass and his wife Marlene of Garden Grove, Calif. and four grandchildren: Aaron and Katie McElhose and Scott and Chris Bensberg.
A graveside memorial in Camden, Ark., will be held at a yet to be determined date.
