Herman F. "Ham" Martin, 88, of Blackwater, died at The Living Center in Marshall, on Monday, Aug. 7, 2006.
There will be a memorial service at Davis Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2006, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Michael Hibbard officiating. There will be visitation two hours prior to the service; from noon until service time. Burial will be in the Old Lamine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
Martin was born in Cooper County July 19, 1918, the son of Daniel Elmer Martin and Emma (Duvall) Martin. He was born, raised and lived on the same farm his entire life. He married Elsie Picking, 65 years ago on May 26, 1941, in Boonville.
He worked for the Missouri Pacific Railroad for six years before he started with Missouri Department of Transportation, where he worked until his retirement in 1980. He was also a cattle farmer during that time.
He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, James and Albin Martin. He also lost a son in infancy. Martin is survived by his wife, Elsie of Nelson, his children, Jim Martin of Weatherby, David Martin of Jonesburg and his daughter, Muriel Fisk of Nelson. He is also survived by a sister, Agnes Allen of Boonville; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Memorials are suggested to the Living Center in Marshall or the Old Lamine Cemetery.
