Dewitt Talmage 'D.T.' Weekley, 94, of Blackwater passed away at Cooper County Memorial Hospital in Boonville on Tuesday afternoon Aug. 1, 2006.
Visitation will be at Davis Funeral Chapel on Thursday evening Aug. 3, from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be at The Old Lamine Church on Friday Aug. 4, 2006 at 2 p.m. with evangelist Rick Sparks officiating. He was born in Blackwater on Sept. 24, 1911, the son of Thomas Weekley and Mary 'Hill' Weekley. He married Eunice Lee Mollet 68 years ago on March 28, 1938.
Weekley was very active in his community where he was an active 4-H community leader, served on the Federal Land Bank Board for many years; he served as president of the Cooper County extension, was a member of the MFA state board of directors for 29 years and was an insurance agent for MFA Insurance, now known as Shelter Insurance for 39 years. He served on the Cooper County Board of Education. He also served as a field man for the local ASC office and spent many years preparing taxes for friends and neighbors. Weekley was a devoted and active leader in his church. He served as an elder for the Old Lamine Church of Christ for 42 years.
Weekley was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Rufus Weekley and an infant brother, Lewis Peterman Weekley; and an infant son, Thomas Mollet Weekley. He is survived by his wife, Eunice of the home; his son, Douglas Weekly of Boonville; two grandsons; four great-grandchildren; three nieces; a brother-in-law, Wayne Hill of Columbia; and a sister-in-law, Betty Mollet of Cody, Wyo.
