Families and teachers can purchase clothing and shoes priced up to $100, personal computers priced at $3,500 or less, computer software at $350 or less and school supplies at less than $50 per purchase.
All shoppers in Missouri will qualify for the state sales tax exemption.
Some cities and counties chose to opt-out of the program. Saline County opted out, but the city of Marshall chose to participate in the "tax holiday," according to the state Department of Revenue.
That means shoppers who purchase their school supplies inside of the city limits of Marshall will pay only the Saline County sales tax of 1 percent.
