Former Marshall High School band director Howard Bell of Kansas City will be returning for the Marshall Municipal Band's 85th birthday celebration Thursday, July 27.

During his 1959 to 1962 tenure in Marshall, Bell also served as assistant director of the municipal band.

He and his wife, Zelia, would enjoy renewing acquaintances with friends and former band students during his Marshall visit.

He invites them to gather on the east side of the courthouse lawn any time between 4:30 to 7:00 p.m.

The municipal band's ice cream social begins at 6:30 p.m., Thursday.

That will be followed by its weekly concert at 7:30 p.m.

In the event of rain, the gathering, as well as the ice cream social and concert, will take place in the New Life Center of the First United Methodist Church.
