William Lester Green, 91, of Blackwater, died Tuesday, July 25, 2006, at his home in Blackwater.
He was born Dec. 13, 1914, in Howard County, to Elmer and Ella Taylor Green. He married Edna Mae Calvert on March 31, 1934, in Boonville, who survives of the home. He lived all of his life in the Blackwater area. He was a member of the Old Lamine Church of Christ, and was an elder in his church. He was a farmer in the Blackwater community and worked for the A.S.C.S. office in Boonville for 40 years. He also sold Clark Fork Insurance for over 20 years.
He is survived by his wife of the home; seven sons, Lester Delane of Excello, Franklin Green of Boonville, Winfred Green of Marion, Ky., David Green, Joe Green, Steven Green and John Green, all of Blackwater; seven daughters, Genevieve Mayes of Greenville, Ky., Mary Lou Henry of Columbia, Barbara Thurman of Blackwater, Carlene Babini of Utah, Colleen Hayes of Columbia, Pat Morris of Iowa and Susan Fenton of Blackwater; 40 grandchildren; 82 great grandchildren; two brothers, Virgil Green and Cedric Green of Nelson; one sister, Susie Smiley of Texas.
He was preceded in death by five brothers and five sisters.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, July 28, 2006, at Old Lamine Church of Christ near Blackwater, with evangelist Louis Garbi officiating. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Thursday, July 27, with family receiving friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Meisenheimer Funeral Home in Pilot Grove. Burial will be in the Old Lamine Cemetery in Blackwater.
Pallbearers will be Frank Oswald, Butch Blumhorst, Rex Meyer, Tim Weekley and Dale Young. Honorary Pallbearers will be Talmage Weekley, Herb Kusgen, Ed Schuster, Jack Russell, Kenny Schuster and Jerry Schuster.
Memorials are suggested to the Salvation Army or Old Lamine Church of Christ.
