Slater school board sets Aug. 22 meeting to discuss 54-cent levy

Thursday, July 20, 2006

The Slater school board met Tuesday evening, July 18, and the main discussion revolved around a tax levy.

For its next meeting, Tuesday, Aug. 22, the school board will hold a levy hearing as the first item on the agenda. The 54-cent levy would finance improvement projects at the elementary and high schools. The proposed levy rate is 54 cents per $100 property valuation.

In another matter, the board approved the new criteria for free and reduced-price meals and set the meal prices for 2006-2007. The prices will be the same as in the 2005-2006 school year.

The board also approved contracts with MFA to supply fuel, Prairie Farms for dairy and Interstate Brands for bread.

Superintendent Paul Vaillancourt reported that he was in the process of buying a new 47-passenger school bus, and that parking lots on the west side of the school were resealed and striped.
