Ralph J. F. Greiwe, 80, of Alma, died Monday, July 10, 2006, at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Mo.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 13, 2006, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Alma. Rev. Timothy Miille will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Wednesday at the church, with the family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Pallbearers will be Christopher Dierking, Joel Dierking, Bradley Scott, Lance Sulzen, Tim Gutzmer, Richard Schlueter, and Rick Heimsoth. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, St. Paul High School, Immanuel Lutheran Radio Broadcast Fund, or Family Choice in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home.
Born April 23, 1926, in Alma, he was the son of the late Edwin Greiwe and Lorna Franz Greiwe. On Nov. 12, 1950, he married Erna Brunkhorst, who survives of the home. He had lived in the Alma community his entire life and was a 1944 graduate of Alma High School. He owned and operated Ralph's Plumbing and Heating for 31 years and had also served as Alma fire chief and had previously served as president of the Lafayette County Fire Association. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he had taught the senior Bible class for over 35 years. He was a former member of the church choir and men's club, served as Sunday school superintendent and as an usher and had also served on the school board and cemetery committee.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Alice Scott of Unionville, Karen Dierking of Blackburn; one son, John Greiwe of Alma; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Melvin Greiwe of Higginsville; two sisters, Helen Erdman of Higginsville, and Dorothy Heimsoth of Concordia; one sister-in-law, Laverne Greiwe of Marshall; along with several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Homer Greiwe.
