Quentin E. King, 74, of Marshall died Monday, July 10, 2006, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Cremation memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 13, 2006, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall. Rev. Wayne Doolin will officiate. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Missouri Valley College.
Born Aug. 28, 1931, in Bedford, Iowa, he was the son of the late Earl L. King and Mollie Stewart King. On Aug. 26, 1949, he married Virginia Blake, who survives of the home. He was a graduate of the University of Iowa and completed graduate work at the University of New Mexico and the University of Northern Iowa. He had lived in Marshall since 1974, moving from Centerville, Iowa. He coached basketball at several Iowa and New Mexico high schools, as well as at Indian Hills Junior College in Centerville, Iowa. He finished his coaching career at Missouri Valley College coaching basketball and baseball. He was also a farmer and was a school bus driver for the Marshall School District.
Additional survivors include one daughter, Karen Mitchell and husband, Keith, of Ottumwa, Iowa; one son, David King and wife, Pam, of Marshall; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Bob King.
