Patsy H. Marquess, 78, of Sedalia, died Sunday, June 25, 2006, at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 27, at Ewing-Schutte-Semler Funeral Home in Sedalia. Rev. Dr. Donald J. Allcorn will officiate. Pallbearers will be Ryan Marquess, William Marquess, Johnny Marquess, Justin Krause, Jason Marquess and Rocky Marquess. Honorary pallbearers will be Jesse Marquess Jr., David Marquess, Henry Elwood Marquess III, Shawn Gardener, John William Marquess, Bryant Wayne Marquess, Derek Marquess and Tommy Church. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Monday, June 26, at Ewing-Schutte-Semler Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Ewing-Schutte-Semler Funeral Home. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
Born Oct. 1, 1927, at Grand Pass, she was the daughter of the late William Jessie and Mabel Irene Hart Gemes. On Jan. 7, 1948, in Warsaw, she married Henry Elwood Marquess, who preceded her in death July 11, 1972. She graduated from Warsaw High School and worked for Lamy Manufacturing Company for 48 years. She enjoyed sewing, attending to her flowers and spending time with her family.
Survivors include four daughters, Carolyn Marquess of Sedalia, Patricia Spiess of Sedalia, Donna Sue Combs of Sedalia and Sandra Elaine Anderson of Sedalia; seven sons, Henry Elwood Marquess Jr. of Warsaw, Ronald Lee Marquess of Ben Wheeler, Texas, Jesse Rodger Marquess of Sedalia, Michael Eugene Marquess of Alabaster, Ala., Mitchell LeRoy Marquess of Clinton, Timothy Wayne Marquess Sr. of Marshall and Randy Dale Marquess of Sedalia; one sister, Shirley Darlene Breshears of Windsor; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Donna Jean Marquess; three sons, William Obediah Marquess, Delbert Daniel Marquess and Robert Allen Marquess; three brothers, William Glen Gemes, Robert Lee Gemes and Donald Wayne Gemes; and two sisters, Beulah May Bybee and Nora Genieve Crabtree.
