Billy K. Smith, 81, of Miami, died Thursday, June 22, 2006, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 26, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall. William W. Harlow will officiate. Friends may call after 8 a.m. Monday and visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial with military rites will be held at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville. Memorials are suggested to the Fitzgibbon Hospital Cancer Center campaign or family choice.
Born May 14, 1925, in Boonville, he was the son of the late Warren Kimbrew Smith and Ada Viola Todd Smith. On June 3, 1951, he married Mary Lou Cook, who survives of the home. He had lived in Miami most of his life and was a member of Miami Baptist Church. He was the custodian for Miami R-1 School for over 30 years and was a carpenter. He was the baseball coach for the Miami community for many years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Linda McWhirter and Sue Miller, both of Hallsville; two sons, Larry Smith and wife Martha of Miami and David Smith and wife Suzanne of Waverly; one sister, Betty Kahle of Bunceton; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.
