Fred A. Hinds, 81, of Marshall, died Wednesday, June 7, 2006, at the Harry S. Truman VA Hospital in Columbia.
Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, at Sweeney-Reser-Wills Funeral Home in Marshall. Rev. Russ Johnson will officiate. Organist Ramona Bullington will play "Amazing Grace" and "In The Garden."
Born July 26, 1924, in Pasadena, Calif., he was the son of the late Fred and Theressa Hinds. In 1978, in Las Vegas, Nev., he married Jessie M. Rash, who survives of the home. He graduated from Jordan High School in Los Angeles, Calif., in 1942 and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was also stationed in the Philippines. He was a resident of the Minneapolis, Minn., area for 20 years and served as a psychologist at a county detention center for many years. He was a resident of Marshall for the past 10 years and had been employed by the Marshall School District and the Marshall Municipal Airport.
Additional survivors include two sons, Darryl Hinds and Michael Hinds, both of Los Angeles, Calif.; one daughter, Rhonda Hinds Hobson of Los Angeles, Calif.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Eddy Richards; and two sisters, Peggy Embry and Lucille Rounds.
