Marvin L. Jones, 87, of Sedalia, formerly of Marshall, died Wednesday, June 7, 2006, at Fair View Nursing Home in Sedalia.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 10, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall. Rev. Donald Kelley will officiate. Pallbearers will be Dennis Jones, Bill Jones, Russell Bailey, Buddy Cusick, Paul Aulgur and Jimmie Aulgur. Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 9, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church in Sedalia.
Born May 20, 1919, in Henry County, he was the son of the late Andy Jones and Cora Owsley Jones. On Oct. 14, 1967, in Marshall, he married Doris Blackerby, who survives of the home. He had lived in Sedalia since 1998, moving from Warsaw and had also lived in Marshall for many years. He worked for Missouri Public Service for 36 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Sedalia. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Nellie Bailey and husband Lester of Marshall and Esther Jones of Charleston, S.C.; one sister, Phyllis Jones of Clinton; two grandchildren, Russell Bailey and Sandra Perry; one great-grandson, Noah Perry; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Sam Jones and Gordon Jones.
