The Saline County Queen contest will take place at 8 p.m. Saturday, June 3, at the Saline County BBQ. Following are brief biographies of the 11 contestants in the junior queen category.

She just completed the eighth grade at Bueker Middle School, where she has consistently been on the "A" honor roll. Other honors include Modern Woodsmen of America Speech Contest, where she received second place her fifth grade year and first place her sixth grade year. She was also voted "Best Personality" of the eighth grade class for the yearbook.
Her activities include 4-H member since age 5, reporter and presently vice president of her 4-H club, vice president of student council her eighth grade year, eighth grade football cheerleader, member of the seventh and eighth grade basketball teams and eighth grade track team. Her hobbies include computers, basketball, reading and summer league softball.

Hannah Boyer, 16, is the daughter of George and Ronda Boyer of rural Napton. She is sponsored by the Clay Center 4-H Club.
She will be a sophomore next year. Her honors include a State Leadership medal, Presidential Award for Academic Excellence, and Star Chapter Farmer.

Kimberly Deutsch
Kimberly Deutsch is the daughter of James and Karen Deutsch of Marshall. She is sponsored by the Bizy Beavers 4-H Club, which she has a member of for seven years.

Her activities include playing oboe in the middle school band, singing in the eighth grade Special Chorus, participated as representative and alternate for student council, member of eighth grade dance committee, First United Methodist Youth Choir and a member of the Sedalia Symphony. Her hobbies include showing rabbits, counted cross stitch and collecting dolls.

She will be a sophomore next year at Sweet Springs High School. Her honors include listing in Who's Who Among High School Students and she is a member of the Junior National Honor Society.
Her activities are 4-H member, FFA member, Future Business Leaders of America, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, volleyball and cheerleading.

Jodie Harris
Jodie Harris, 14, is the daughter of Stephen and Joyce Harris of rural Sweet Springs. She is sponsored by Kennedy 4-H Club.

Her activities include 4-H, band, flag corps, volleyball, softball, basketball, track and church youth group. Her hobbies include showing cattle, camping with family and water sports.

She just completed her freshman year at Marshall High School. Her honors include all-conference girls golf, "A" honor roll and Academic Achievement Award. She also attended State FFA convention on the knowledge team. Her activities include member of First United Methodist Church, member of the Marshall High School girls golf team and the soccer team. Her hobbies are golfing and playing soccer.

She has completed her junior year at Malta Bend High School. Her honors include the Star Chapter Farmer, the FFA Proficiency Award, honor roll and perfect attendance awards.
Her activities include FFA vice president, student council, Saline Country Junior Leaders. She was selected to attend Washington Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C., this summer. She was also Outstanding 4-H Member. Her hobbies include having fun on weekends, spending time with friends and four wheeling.

Audra Taylor, 14, is daughter of Ed and Jeanna Taylor of Miami. She is sponsored by Fairville Reynolds 4-H Club.
She just completed the eighth grade at Miami R-1 School. She was voted president of her class. Other honors include "A" honor roll and numerous Accelerated Reader Certificates.
Her activities include basketball and she is a church acolyte. Her hobbies include reading, sports, hanging out with her friends and watching movies.
Rosalind Thiel
Rosalind Thiel, 15, is the daughter of Donnie and Martene Thiel of rural Marshall. She is sponsored by the Lucky Leaf 4-H Club.
She has completed her sophomore year at St. Paul Lutheran High School. Her honors include listing on the honor roll and numerous sports records.
Her activities include participating in volleyball, soccer, track and drama. In addition to being a member of 4-H, she is also an active member of the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church youth group. Her hobbies include playing cards, board games, computers, arts and crafts, reading and being with friends. She loves to cook and is helping as a counselor at a summer camp.
Jennifer Vogelsmeier
Jennifer Vogelsmeier, 17, is the daughter of Jay and Amy Vogelsmeier of Sweet Springs. She is sponsored by the Sweet Springs FFA.
A 2006 graduate of Sweet Springs High School, her honors include being named 2007 Sweet Springs delegate to Missouri Girls State, Who's Who Among American High School Students, All-American Scholar Award, Glory of Missouri "Law" Award sponsored by the Missouri House of Representatives, President's Education Academic Excellence Award, and high honor roll.
She has also received awards for top grade in sociology, psychology and business technology. She received the scholarship award for highest grade point average her freshmen, sophomore and junior years. She also received the 2006 Forest Management and Products Proficiency Award in Entrepreneurship, reports scrapbook first place at area competition and gold at state competition, secretary's book first at area competition and gold at state competition and was state participant in FFA and agriculture contests for three years.
Sports honors include The Marshall Democrat-News 2005 No. 2 Area Female Athlete, volleyball team Most Valuable Player, first team all-conference, I-70 all-tournament team and numerous other basketball awards. She also has received softball first team all-conference, all-tournament team and track all-state for three years.
Her activities include student council president, junior and senior class president and yearbook co-editor. FFA offices she held were first vice president, secretary and treasurer.
She is also a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and the church youth group. Her hobbies include spending time with family and friends, playing sports and going to the lake.
Paige Wattenbarger
Paige Wattenbarger, 14, is the daughter of Ron and Jackie Plattner of rural Marshall and Carl and Tina Wattenbarger. She is sponsored by the Work to Win 4-H Club.
She just completed her eighth grade year at Malta Bend R-5 school. She was chosen as the Malta Bend American Legion Outstanding Eighth Grade Girl.
Her activities include basketball, track, Quiz Bowl, math team, band, student council, Work to Win 4-H Club, FFA.
She is a member of First Baptist Church of Marshall, where she participates in the youth group and Acteens. Her hobbies include raising show pigs, swimming and riding horses.
