Helen Virginia Hurlburt, 94, of Marshall, formerly of Waverly, died Friday, May 26, 2006 at The Living Center in Marshall.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 3, at the Waverly Baptist Church. Rev. Mike Walker will officiate. Burial will be in Waverly Cemetery in Waverly. Memorials are suggested to The Living Center in care of Gibson Funeral Home, 201 S. Main, Carrollton, MO 64633.
Born Nov. 4, 1911, in Slater, she was the daughter of William Clarence and Eula Edmonds Peterman Nichols. She graduated from Miami High School in 1931 and graduated from Missouri Valley College with a bachelor of science in education in 1944. She began her teaching career in Saline and Carroll counties and retired from the Kansas City school district. She was a member of the Waverly Baptist Church. Helen was also a member of MSTA, MRTA and NEA. On April 26, 1975, in Boonville, she married Gus W. Hurlburt, who preceded her in death June 17, 2004.
Survivors include one sister, Anita Collins of Anchorage, Alaska.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Marion Nichols; and two sisters, Doris Doty and Margaret Leimkuehler.
