Patricia Joan Pointer, 73, of rural Marshall, died Thursday, May 4, 2006, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 8, at First Baptist Church in Marshall. Rev. Don Simmons will officiate. Visitation will be held from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, May 7, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials are suggested to New Salem Baptist Church or Fitzgibbon-Mary Montgomery Hospice.
Born June 30, 1932, in Chicago, Ill., she was the daughter of the late U.B. Weaver and Beulah S. Lee Weaver. She was raised in Malta Bend, attended Steele Grade School and graduated from Malta Bend High School on May 19, 1951. That same day she married Roy Fred Pointer of Marshall in a double ceremony with Betty Chevalier and Bucky Coleman. They were married for 42 years and Roy preceded her in death on Dec. 25, 1993. She was a homemaker and had been employed at Wal-Mart since October 1983. She was a member of New Salem Baptist Church and taught Sunday school for 20 years. She enjoyed sewing, homemaking, cooking and being around people.
Survivors include her children, Randy Pointer of Marshall Junction, Kathy Marshall and husband Oliver of Malta Bend, Paul Pointer and wife Joan of Marshall and Terry Pointer and wife Michelle of Marshall Junction; her grandchildren, Brian Marshall and wife Jackie, Todd Marshall and friend Christy Kueker, Kyla Marshall and friend Justin Schuster, Jeremy Pointer and friend Chassity Mullins, Kara Pointer, Katie Pointer, Marti Coldiron, Stacy Raney and husband Brian, Alex Pointer, Jamie Pointer, Jason Bailey and Nicole Benner; three great-grandchildren, Hannah and Abbie Marshall and Brooklyn Pointer; and several nieces and nephews.
